Stove top

After all of these areas have been cleaned, washed, and dried, we can clean the top of the oven. Most stovetop burners, drip pans, or burner circle covers can be removed and scrubbed in the sink. I like to use Bar Keepers Friend on these items. Some drip pans may be easier to replace rather than clean. Drip pans are usually sold at Home Depot for an inexpensive price. I have not had drip pans scratch in my years of professional cleaning, unless they are painted as opposed to chrome. The way I have found that works best is to get a blue sponge damp. Then sprinkle Bar Keepers Friend onto the sponge. I like to have the burners, drip pans, or circle covers damp as opposed to wet. Rinse the item and shake the water off. Then take the damp sponge – the soft side facing the item – apply Bar Keepers Friend and start to rub the item. It should create a soft scrubbing paste on the item. I find that when drip pans or burners are overly wet, cleaning takes longer and there is not a scrubbing paste to work with. Then I rub, rinse, and repeat as needed. Rinse and dry well. Do not put back until after the stovetop has been cleaned. Set them on a towel rag on the counter.

If the oven knobs are above the burners, then we will clean them now. If the knobs are near the oven door handle, we will clean them in a bit. Remove stove knobs and soak, if they are removable. Then wash the area behind the oven knobs and dry.
